The new building will be The Lewis & Clark
Boat House and Nature Center. It is scheduled to open this spring.
The replica boats of the Lewis & Clark Expedition built by the Discovery
Expedition of St. Charles will be on display in the lower level where

can be easily removed when it floods. This
is called a "flow through" design used in flood plains.
On the upper level, the contents of the (old) Lewis & Clark Center
will be displayed along with many new exhibits. The new facility will
have a classroom to accomodate our many class field trips, elderhostel
groups, and tours. In addition there will be ongoing living history
demonstrations.
